Legal & Compliance

Legal and compliance teams need to know where information is, who can see it and how long it is kept, and to prove it when asked.

Why this role specifically

Contracts, policies, case files and evidence are spread across systems and inboxes. Finding the right version, applying legal holds and answering audits takes too much time.

The GDPR, NIS2, DORA, the AI Act and the European Accessibility Act add obligations that have to be built into processes, not checked afterwards.

Where we usually start

Two practices cover most of what comes up for legal and compliance teams. Both link through to the full explanation.

Content Services & Document Management

Governed content with retention schedules, legal holds, access control and audit trails, for contracts, records and case files.

Process Automation

Contract workflows, approvals and qualified e-signatures in one controlled flow, with every step logged.

What we propose most often

iManage and Intapp for law firms and legal teams, Therefore for contract management, Scrive for qualified e-signatures under eIDAS, and OpenText Content Management or Therefore for enterprise records.

What this looks like in practice

A typical engagement starts with contracts or records: one governed repository with retention and access rules defined up front.

We then automate approvals, signatures and audits around it, so compliance becomes part of the process.

Platforms we use most in this sector

Which platform we propose depends on your process and systems. These are the ones we deploy most often here, delivered by Canon IMS under one contract.

IRIS Nederland, a Canon IMS competence centre, has long experience in legal technology, and Canon IMS is certified to ISO 27001 with a SOC 2 Type I report.

How do you support GDPR retention and deletion?

Retention schedules are defined per document type, and documents are deleted or reviewed automatically when their retention period ends, with an audit trail.

Can legal holds be applied?

Yes. The content platforms we deploy support legal holds that suspend deletion for documents involved in litigation or investigations.

Are electronic signatures legally valid?

Yes. Scrive provides qualified electronic signatures under eIDAS, with the same legal standing as a handwritten signature throughout the EU.
