Workato

Workato through Canon IMS: one platform for integration, automation and AI agents via Enterprise MCP, connecting cloud, on-premises and legacy systems.

From system integration to agentic orchestration

Workato connects the applications, data and processes your organisation runs on, without complex programming. It combines integration (iPaaS), process automation and low-code app building in one cloud platform, used by IT and business teams alike. Since 2026, Workato also positions itself as the infrastructure under agentic AI: through Enterprise MCP, AI agents can act in your systems under control.

The Process layer of the Canon Information Orchestration Framework

Canon organises information management in four movements: Capture, Content, Communicate and Process. Workato is one of the two orchestration engines of the Process layer, alongside uniFLOW sysHUB: it connects cloud and SaaS applications with your systems of record and gives AI agents governed access to them.

AI agents may advise and request actions; Workato executes them under the user’s own permissions, with a full audit trail.

Enterprise MCP: governed access for AI agents

Through Enterprise MCP, agents such as Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot or your own can act in your business systems. With Verified User Access, an agent always works under the identity of the authorised user, so existing roles and permissions apply, and every request and action is logged.

Reuse what you already automated

Workflows and integrations already built in Workato can be exposed as MCP servers without extra development, and access for all agents is managed centrally instead of agent by agent. Rate limits, multi-factor authentication, audit trails and error handling are set up once, avoiding the pitfalls of do-it-yourself AI integration.

Replacing a legacy integration bus in phases

Organisations still running an older ESB face rising maintenance costs and a shrinking pool of specialists. Workato connects the same systems through pre-built connectors and an open REST connector for anything bespoke, so the integration layer can be modernised step by step rather than in one large migration.

Cloud and on-premises, one platform

Workato supports both cloud and on-premises systems, from Salesforce and Microsoft 365 to legacy applications without a modern interface. IT and the business teams closest to the process work in the same environment, with governance over who built what and which systems it reaches.

European data residency

Workato operates a dedicated EU data centre with in-region processing that extends to its agentic AI capabilities. For organisations weighing agentic automation against data sovereignty requirements, that removes a common blocker.

Key benefits

One platform: Integration, automation and agentic AI in one environment instead of separate tools.

AI under control: Agents act with the user’s own rights, with every action logged for compliance.

Faster time to value: Pre-built connectors and reusable recipes replace months of custom integration work.

Business and IT together: Business teams build within guardrails that IT sets and monitors.

Canon IMS: one partner, one contract, one point of accountability

Canon IMS takes responsibility for your Workato environment from first analysis to daily operation: advice, implementation, support and managed services under one contract with agreed service levels.

Advice and consultancy: We map the systems a process touches, where AI agents could add value and what governance they need, and tell you honestly whether Workato fits.

Where it fits

Workato is our choice when a process spans many cloud and SaaS applications, or when an organisation wants AI agents to act in its systems under governance. Where a process revolves around documents and output, from SAP data to printed or digital documents, uniFLOW sysHUB is often the better engine, and the two frequently work side by side.

We propose what fits your process, not what we happen to sell.

Frequently asked questions

Why choose Workato through Canon IMS?

Canon IMS is a certified Workato partner and combines the platform with process and automation expertise across sectors. Advice, implementation, support under an SLA and optional managed services come under one contract, with one point of contact for the whole automation landscape.

What is Workato?

Workato is a cloud platform that connects applications, data and processes without complex programming. It combines integration (iPaaS), process automation and low-code app building, and is used by both IT and business teams.

What is Workato Enterprise MCP?

Enterprise MCP (Model Context Protocol) gives AI agents such as Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot or your own controlled access to your business systems. Agents act under the identity of the authorised user, access is managed centrally and every action is logged.

Can we reuse our existing integrations for AI agents?

Yes. Workflows and integrations already built in Workato can be converted into MCP servers that AI agents can call, without additional development.

Does Workato support on-premises and legacy systems?

Yes. Workato supports cloud and on-premises systems through pre-built connectors, an open REST connector and a connector SDK, which also makes it suitable for replacing older integration buses in phases.

Can Workato keep our data in Europe?

Workato operates a dedicated EU data centre with in-region processing, including its agentic AI capabilities, for organisations with data residency requirements.

When is Workato the right choice instead of uniFLOW sysHUB?

Workato is strongest for connecting cloud and SaaS applications and for governed AI agents. uniFLOW sysHUB is strongest where processes revolve around documents and output. The two often complement each other, and we advise per process.
